What is Botox?
Botox is a cosmetic injectable used to temporarily relax dynamic facial muscles. The neuromodulator works by temporarily blocking nerve signals that cause these muscles to contract. As a result, the overlying skin appears smoother and wrinkles are visibly reduced producing a more youthful look.
Procedure
Facial assessment and consultation are done first to determine desired look and corresponding treatment areas. During the procedure, a small amount of botox is injected into specific facial muscles with a thin needle. Most visits are completed within 30 minutes, with the actual treatment taking only a few minutes. There is no downtime or recovery and treatment can be combined with other procedures.
Aftercare
There may be slight swelling or redness at the injection site, but this typically resolves within 30 minutes. For optimal effect, avoid touching the injection site for the first four hours after treatment and any strenuous physical activity for the rest of the day.
Results
You will begin to see effects within 3-5 days, with most results appearing within 1 week. We check the final full effect at your two week follow-up visit. Duration of effect is approximately about 3-4 months.
