How does it work?
Sculptra contains a biocompatible substance called poly-L-lactic acid that naturally stimulates your skin’s collagen production to restore lost facial volume and smooth wrinkles. As collagen rebuilds, your skin becomes gradually firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking.
Procedure
Prior to treatment, the skin is cleansed thoroughly, then injections are marked strategically to ensure accurate and balanced treatment. For optimal comfort, Sculpta is mixed with the anesthetic lidocaine and topical numbing cream is also applied to treatment areas. During the injection, you may feel a slight pinch, but discomfort is minimal due to numbing. After each injection, the treatment areas will be massaged gently.
Aftercare
Immediately following your treatment, you may return to your normal activities and wait 1-2 days before engaging in strenuous physical activity. There may be slight swelling or redness at the injection site, but this typically resolves within a day or two. Mild bruising may occur depending on the treatment area, but this can be minimized by following our pre-treatment instructions. It is important to massage the treatment areas daily as instructed by your provider.
Results
Over the course of several weeks to months, you should notice a gradual improvement in the texture, volume, and overall appearance of your skin. Multiple treatment sessions are often recommended, typically spaced several weeks apart, to achieve optimal results. The effects of Sculptra often last up to two years or longer in some cases.
